MAURICIO POCHETTINO SPOTTED WEARING TOTTENHAM CLOTHING AMID PSG SACK

Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly been sacked by Paris Saint-Germain but the former Tottenham Hotspur manager might’ve seen it coming.

The Athletic reported this afternoon that the Ligue 1 champions have decided to part ways with their Argentine boss.

Despite winning the French league this past season, their failure in the Champions League, going out to Real Madrid in the quarter-final, has seemingly been deemed unacceptable by the 50-year-old, fired by Tottenham back in 2019.

The rumour came through on Sunday but it’s likely that Pochettino himself knew before today.

That’s because on Saturday, the South American coach posted a photo of himself and former Espanyol teammate Ivan de la Pena on Instagram.

And interestingly, he was wearing a t-shirt from his time as Spurs manager.

It doesn’t appear to be an old photo of Pochettino, given the context of the photograph being centered around ‘catching up’ with his old pal, suggesting the reunion happened recently.

And the truth is that Pochettino wouldn’t incur the wrath of PSG supporters by displaying his affection for Tottenham if he hadn’t already been told that he’d been sacked by the French giants.

Interestingly, the former Southampton boss was linked with a return to the Lilywhites recently, when there was doubt over Antonio Conte’s future in North London.

But with the Italian now set to stay beyond the summer following an investment of £150 million by ENIC, there’ll be no reunion for Pochettino and his old Spurs boys.

As mentioned, it’s just a piece of speculation at the moment.

But the t-shirt, combined with The Athletic report, it’s safe to assume that he won’t be taking charge of PSG next season and beyond.
