Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has fired back at the media following his public criticism of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ten Hag informed Dutch media that Ronaldo’s departure from last Sunday’s preseason friendly against Rayo Vallecano was “inappropriate.”
However, the manager stated today: “Now I have to point out that many players departed, but the focus is on Cristiano, which is incorrect, so do your investigation and find out how many players left, as was stated.
“There were numerous participants.
“I’m really glad, as I said before, that we have a top striker, and I’m incredibly happy that he’s here with the squad and that we stick to the strategy.”
United’s season begins this weekend against Brighton.
