Manchester United reached an agreement with PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo’s agency. The Red Devils were interested in signing the Dutch attacker in the summer, but instead chose to invest all of their funds in Ajax winger Antony. According to transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano, who talked with The United Stand, United did reach an arrangement with Gakpo’s representatives. The player believed he was on his way to Old Trafford, but United never made an official approach to PSV.
Instead, they elected to invest a portion of their transfer money on Antony, while Gakpo turned down a late bid from Leeds United to sign him on deadline day. Gakpo might still join Manchester United next summer if he maintains his strong start to the season.
